بلاک پرنٹنگ کا ہنر

A soft thud creates a calm, therapeutic beat as a wooden block, dipped in vibrant colours rhythmically hits the fabric laid out on the table. Originally dating back to China, block print was developed extensively in the subcontinent along the banks of river Indus. For centuries, sub-continental block print was coveted throughout the world, where block printed textiles were exported from the region to the far and middle east, Africa and Europe. You might have noticed how your Amma’s ajrak shawl is still so evergreen and haseen after decades of being in a paitee. It is because block print is such a beautiful and meticulous craft.
